What is Energy Management?

Some people believe energy management is a hedge on the commodity purchasing of energy (supply-side). Others believe energy management is a series of unrelated CAPEX projects that they hope will deliver an ROI. A true Energy Management System controls energy and determines whether you are having a good or bad day with respect to energy use.

Energy management requires the development and continuous use of systems and tools that control and report on how and why energy is used. This information, when properly presented, drives accountability and responsibility for elimination of energy waste. With an energy management system, leadership can begin creating a change in culture regarding energy. The result is sustainable and measurable energy savings year over year for an area, a plant or the enterprise.
